eSports games have exploded in popularity over the past few years, and right now they're one of the most popular game types on the market. Whether you want to play casually or take part in international tournaments, there are a wide variety of games available. However, up until now many of the best games have only run smoothly on traditional consoles or gaming PCs.
Times are changing, though. Apple is improving its own technology every day, and it seems that it's only a matter of time until iPads and Macbooks become the go-to products for eSports enthusiasts.

For much of its existence, Apple only sought to compete with Android and Microsoft. Lately, though, it has been threatening to overtake the likes of Nintendo and Sony. 70% of the app store's profit comes from gaming apps and Apple currently boasts a number of popular eSport games including Clash Royale, PUBG, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
In striving to be the best on the market, Apple has vastly improved its gaming experience on recent products. Firstly, the graphics on new Apple products are nothing short of outstanding. For example, the iPad Mini 6 has the highest pixel density of all iPads, which makes for a smooth and flawless gaming experience. Meanwhile, it's rumoured that the next Macbook Pro will have greater GPU performance power than most gaming laptops on the market. This means that newer products can now handle even the most visually complex of eSports games with ease.
What's more, handheld consoles are the future of gaming in general, whether we like it or not. You only need to look at eSports news websites like win.gg to see how popular these games are. With an iPhone or iPad, you can play them on the go. This enticing feature will only further increase the popularity of eSports by making them more widely available.
With everything that Apple has planned for gaming, other products have adapted accordingly. For example, Xbox cloud gaming is a revolutionary way of playing your favourite eSports, even when you're away from your console. All you need is your chosen Apple product, an internet connection and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. You can even sync your controller to your device via Bluetooth, creating a near-identical gaming experience that's a lot more convenient.

Excitingly, there are rumours of brand new products and concepts that will further boost Apple's credibility as a gaming company. For example, the new Apple TV will be designed with gaming in mind, and it boasts a powerful processor, more storage and a specialised controller. Perhaps the biggest news of all is the potential of Apple releasing a handheld games console. Nothing is confirmed, but with the direction they're going in now it wouldn't be surprising - and it would certainly turn a hefty profit.
Overall, Apple is definitely heading in a new direction. There is every possibility that they will soon be the leading company for eSports gaming, and this will be beneficial for players and game companies alike.
