Our world keeps spinning faster and faster and it becomes harder to make sense of anything every day. We become closely connected despite any distance and then, the next moment, we must isolate ourselves. At the same time, there are things that remain quite clear. Some of them are the importance of traveling, learning, and keeping yourself in a balanced mental state. All three points cannot be overestimated and should be done frequently by everyone. Most importantly, those things are closely interconnected, so they are quite easy to mix.

Traveling to Learn and Learning to Travel

The benefits of traveling are quite clear, well-known, and even scientifically supported. Going abroad and exploring new horizons is great for mental health, it provides you with some great experiences, and it's simply fun. At the same time, learning new skills, such as languages, stimulates your brain, and makes your travels easier. Yet, what if you want and can start doing the former, yet, are still not that proficient with the latter? The answer is simple, use translation apps. They are often free, easy-to-use, and even help you in learning languages. Here are some of the best of them if you happen to rely on your portable Apple device.

    1. Google Translate. Despite all the claims, it's good for the starters as it's very easy to use, free, and is powered by one of the greatest tech companies. On a side note though, use it only as a dictionary or a short phrasebook as it's not great with longer passages.
    2. iTranslate. One of the top-rated apps on AppStore, iTranslate is really one of the most powerful translation apps for iOS-powered devices. Offering a voice recognition, image translation, and dialect dictionary, this one only falls behind Google Translate in terms of the number of languages, which is 90 and about a dozen short compared to GTranslate.
    3. Microsoft Translator. Although it seems like Apple and Microsoft are the greatest rivals, the latter managed to develop a great translation app suitable for the former's devices. Like GTranslate, this one is great as a dictionary and with short phrases and is only limited by 60 languages it works with.
    4. Translate.me. Somewhat similar to iTranslate, Translate.me also offers some cutting-edge features like voice recognition, camera translation, and chatting app integration. It's the only limit is its 60 languages, not all of which, however, work adequately.
    5. Air Translate. Adapted specifically for those who like traveling, Air Translate primarily focuses on image translations. This app is great for translating signs, menus, minor documents, and basically anything visual. The app's major downside is that it's not as good at other types of translations.
    6. SayHi. Quite a power translation tool integrated with messaging apps. SayHi allows you to translate on-the-go as you chat with somebody, so making friends in other countries should become easier for you.
    7. iHandy Translator. This app deserves its position in the top 10 for its very intuitive and convenient interface. On top of that, it supports 52 languages and voice recognition, which is valuable today.
    8. Translator Guru. Just like many previous apps on this list, Translation Guru works with both text and speech. At the same time, it supports over 100 languages. Although these qualities seemingly render this app better, it still has some downsides in the quality of translation in many of those supported languages.
    9. My Language Pro. Another text and speech translator. One of the specifics of this app is that it supports about 90 languages for text translations and only about 30 languages for speech recognition and translation.
    10. Reverso. A very popular, somewhat humble, yet, still quite powerful app. Reverso supports only up to 20 languages for both text and speech, yet, its major advantage lies in an extended dictionary that works with phrases and contexts.

In fact, the list of great translation apps for Apple iPhone devices can be much longer, yet, those 10 on the list are some of the most popular and powerful. Of course, translation apps are not a panacea. If you need a serious document translation, you should address an online certified translation services provider to get professional quality. Yet, if you travel to just hanging around, those 10 should be enough.

    Keeping Yourself Alive

Going on another journey can largely boost your lifeforce and get you out of the terrible mood or even depression in no time. Yet, no journey can be truly great without those little helpers the translation apps are. Of course, learning languages deprives you of the need to use those apps in the first place. However, by using those apps you learn languages a little bit at a time and stimulate yourself to change your environment for the one suitable for learning languages.
